Ingersoll Rand opens a Rs 170 crore plant at Sanand that will build centrifugal compressors
Chairman and CEO Vicente Reynal, EMEIA compression head Gareth Topping and India managing director Sunil Khanduja opened a $19.15m engineered-to-order plant in Sanand, Gujarat. It runs on 100% renewable energy and builds centrifugal compressors, refrigeration dryers, large reciprocating compressors and nitrogen generators.

The site covers more than 65,000 m2 with roughly 24,500 m2 built out in the first phase, which is scheduled to produce upwards of 24,000 units a year.
Ingersoll Rand has said the plant should lift its Indian manufacturing capacity roughly 1.5x by 2028, with headroom to double it by 2030, and that it is targeting net-zero operations at the site within five years.
It matters to an installed base of geared centrifugal machines because engineered-to-order centrifugal work is explicitly named as one of the plant's lines rather than a bolt-on to screw compressor assembly.
